Indications
IgE-mediated allergies, also known as hypersensitivity reactions, occur when the immune system mistakenly identifies a harmless substance, known as an allergen, as a threat. In response to this perceived threat, the immune system produces IgE antibodies which triggers the release of histamine and other chemicals from mast cells. These chemicals cause the various symptoms associated with an allergic reaction.
IgE-mediated allergies can manifest in a variety of forms and this profile assesses the following groups:

Food allergies: These reactions occur upon ingestion of certain foods, such as peanuts, shellfish, or milk. Symptoms can range from mild, such as itching or hives, to severe, including anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening condition.

Inhalant allergies: These reactions are triggered by airborne allergens, such as pollen, dust mites, or mold spores. Symptoms typically involve the respiratory system and can include sneezing, runny nose, congestion, and wheezing.

Insects and venoms.

Others: Latex, weeping fig (figus) and cross-reactive carbohydrate determinants (CCDs)
The diagnosis of IgE-mediated allergies typically involves a combination of clinical history, physical examination, and allergy testing. Blood tests can identify specific allergens that trigger an individual’s allergic reactions.
